Tom Florence, President and CEO

Tom Florence is the President and CEO of 361 Capital and is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of the Firm. He has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry across multiple facets including investment management, distribution, operations and corporate strategy.

Prior to joining 361 Capital in 2009, Mr. Florence was Managing Partner of Dividend Capital Group, a real estate investment management company. In addition, he was a co-founder and President of Dividend Capital Investments, a Registered Investment Advisor managing portfolios of real estate securities. Prior to this, Mr. Florence was Managing Director at Morningstar, Inc. and served on the Firm’s Executive Management Committee. Additionally, during his tenure at Morningstar, he founded and was President of Morningstar Investments Services, a Registered Investment Advisor.

Mr. Florence began his career in 1985 at Merrill Lynch and additionally spent five years at Fidelity in Boston. Mr. Florence served on the Board of Trustees of two mutual fund companies, including Janus Capital Group. He is a frequent industry speaker and a guest lecturer at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business. Mr. Florence holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Kellogg Management Institute.

Investments

John R. Riddle, CFA, Co-Chief Investment Officer

John R. Riddle, CFA is Co-Chief Investment Officer of 361 Capital and is responsible for leading day-to-day research and portfolio management efforts. Mr. Riddle is also the author of the foundational academic research that supports our behavioral-driven investment philosophy and process. He has over 36 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Mr. Riddle joined 361 Capital through the acquisition of BRC Investment Management in 2016, where he was Managing Principal and Chief Investment Officer. Previously, he was President/Chief Investment Officer of Duff & Phelps Investment Management. Prior to that, he was CEO/Chief Investment Officer of Capital West Asset Management, LLC.

Mr. Riddle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from the University of Hawaii and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut. He has also earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Mr. Riddle is a member of the Denver Society of Security Analysts.

Cliff Stanton, CFA, Co-Chief Investment Officer

Cliff Stanton, CFA is Co-Chief Investment Officer of 361 Capital and is responsible for managing the investment department, including oversight of strategy development, investment research and portfolio management. Mr. Stanton also leads the Portfolio Solutions Group, which provides asset allocation analysis and portfolio optimization guidance to the Firm’s clients.

Mr. Stanton has over two decades of experience in investment consulting, portfolio management and product development. Prior to joining 361 Capital, Mr. Stanton served as the Chief Research Officer and Portfolio Strategist for Envestnet. Before that he was the Chief Investment Officer with Prima Capital until its acquisition by Envestnet in 2012. While at Envestnet and Prima, he co-chaired the Investment Committee, managed the research department and was Portfolio Manager on numerous multi-asset class, multi-manager portfolios.

Mr. Stanton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Miami University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado – Denver. He has also earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Mr. Stanton has served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Fire & Police Pension Association since 2009.

Blaine Rollins, CFA, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager

Blaine Rollins, CFA is Managing Director and lead Portfolio Manager of the 361 Macro Opportunity Fund. His responsibilities include investment research, portfolio construction and management, hedging and trading strategies. Mr. Rollins is also the author of the hugely popular 361 Weekly Research Briefing, which has a weekly circulation of over 30,000.

Prior to joining 361 Capital in 2011, Mr. Rollins served as Executive Vice President at Janus Capital Corporation and Portfolio Manager of the Janus Fund, Janus Balanced Fund, Janus Equity Income Fund, Janus Aspen Growth Portfolio, Janus Advisor Large Cap Growth Fund and the Janus Triton Fund. He began his career as a financial analyst at AMG Guaranty Trust (formerly Asset Management Group) in 1989 and has over two decades of financial services industry experience.

Mr. Rollins is Director of the LIVESTRONG Foundation. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Colorado. Mr. Rollins has also earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Mark F. Jaeger, CFA, CPA, Managing Director

Mark Jaeger, CFA, CPA is Managing Director of 361 Capital and is responsible for quantitative risk analysis and lead portfolio manager of the Mid Cap and Small Cap strategies. He has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Mr. Jaeger joined 361 Capital through the acquisition of BRC Investment Management in 2016, where he was Principal, Portfolio Manager and Head of Quantitative Analysis. Previously, Mr. Jaeger was Managing Director of Equity at Duff & Phelps Investment Management. Prior to that he was controller of the mountain division of Comcast.

Mr. Jaeger holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Denver. He has earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Jeremy Frank, FRM, Director of Quantitative Research

Jeremy Frank, FRM, is Director of Quantitative Research and a member of the portfolio management team at 361 Capital. His responsibilities include portfolio construction and management, trading strategy development, risk management, proprietary software development, trade execution and analysis. Additionally, Mr. Frank is responsible for sub-advisor due diligence, selection and ongoing relationship management. Prior to re-joining 361 Capital in 2008, Mr. Frank was with HCE Solutions LLC, a quantitative consulting firm he founded in 2007. Prior to founding HCE, he was a Senior Analyst with Innovest Portfolio Solutions where he was responsible for analyzing investment strategies with a focus on quantitative, fixed-income and alternative strategies, as well as derivative structures.

Mr. Frank began his career as a Quantitative Analyst at 361 Capital in 2003 where he was responsible for hedge fund manager due diligence and risk analysis. During his initial tenure at 361 Capital, he developed the Firm’s risk management software, as well as its proprietary research database. Mr. Frank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Northwest University and a Master of Science degree in Finance from Boston College.

Aditya Bhave, Senior Quantitative Analyst

Aditya Bhave is a Senior Quantitative Analyst and member of the portfolio management team for the 361 Managed Futures Strategy Fund, 361 Global Counter-Trend Fund and 361 Macro Opportunity Fund. Mr. Bhave joined the firm in 2011 and is primarily focused on research, development and testing of quantitative investment strategies, portfolio construction, risk management, trading and trade impact analysis. He is also responsible for proprietary software development and database design.

Mr. Bhave co-developed the Firm’s proprietary trading, analysis, and backtesting software platforms, as well as the quantitative investment strategies used in the 361 Global Counter-Trend Fund and the 361 Macro Opportunity fund. Mr. Bhave’s research interests include machine learning, advanced statistical analysis, behavioral biases and general finance and economics.

Mr. Bhave graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Finance and Economics. He received his Master of Science in Finance from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business.

Jason Leupold, Vice President, Trading and Research

Jason Leupold is Vice President of Trading and Research at 361 Capital. He is responsible for identifying and examining trading opportunities that can be systematized as well as assisting in new product development and implementation. His role also includes trade execution, trade impact analysis and risk management.

Prior to joining 361 Capital in 2016, Mr. Leupold served as a research analyst and market strategist with Arches Asset Management. Prior to this, he spent nine years with Crabel Capital Management in various roles, including overseeing the Asian trade desk and foreign exchange desk, as well as creating models for inclusion in Crabel’s portfolios. While at Crabel, Mr. Leupold developed a deep understanding of designing, testing and executing short-term systematic trading rules.

Mr. Leupold has over 15 years of industry experience as a trader, developing algorithms to improve trading efficiencies, creating systematic trading strategies, and product development. Mr. Leupold holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Arizona State University. He currently holds FINRA Series 7, 66, 55 and 3 registrations and has successfully completed Level 1 of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Charter Program.

Operations

John Blue, Senior Vice President, Director of Operations, Chief Compliance Officer

John Blue is Senior Vice President, Director of Operations and Chief Compliance Officer at 361 Capital where he is responsible for daily operations and compliance oversight for the Firm. Throughout his career, Mr. Blue has been involved in a variety of senior-level roles encompassing accounting, trade operations and creating operational efficiencies.

Prior to joining 361 Capital in 2010, Mr. Blue spent eight years at Janus Capital Group and was an instrumental player in their mutual fund and separate account operations. In 2009, he was named the Janus Employee of the Year.

Mr. Blue has earned the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business. He has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Sales & Marketing

Josh Vail, CAIA, Senior Vice President, Director of Sales

Josh Vail serves as Senior Vice President, Director of Sales at 361 Capital. Mr. Vail joined 361 Capital in 2010 and brings more than 10 years of experience working with alternative investments and product development.

Throughout his career, Mr. Vail has worked with numerous investment structures, including Private Offerings, Non-Traded REITs, Hedge Funds and Mutual Funds, as well as alternative asset classes and strategies, such as Private Real Estate Equity, Collateralized Debt Obligations, Mezzanine Financing, Long/Short Equity, Equity Market Neutral and Managed Futures. Prior to joining 361 Capital, Mr. Vail was the Director of Capital Markets and Regional Vice President for Welton Street Investments where he focused on alternative product development and distribution.

Mr. Vail graduated from the Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Real Estate. He currently holds a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation, as well as FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 registrations. He has 15 years of financial services industry experience.

Alexandra Seifert, Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing

Alexandra Seifert is Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing at 361 Capital and is responsible for overall strategy and day-to-day management of all marketing and public relations initiatives at the firm.

Prior to joining 361 Capital, Ms. Seifert held senior-level positions in marketing strategy and planning, advisor practice management and content strategy at Janus Capital Group. Previously she was a marketing director at Charles Schwab and led key programs for Schwab’s OneSource platform and within Schwab Advisor Services™, Schwab’s custodial business supporting Registered Investment Advisors. Ms. Seifert has nearly two decades of experience marketing mutual funds and other investments to both financial intermediaries and individual investors.

Ms. Seifert holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from the University of Colorado. She currently holds FINRA Series 6, 7 and 63 registrations.

Daniel Cascarano, CAIA, Vice President, Director of National Accounts and Institutional Sales

Daniel Cascarano is Vice President, Director of National Accounts and Institutional Sales at 361 Capital and is responsible for developing key account relationships across Institutional and Intermediary channels.

Prior to joining the Firm in 2015, Mr. Cascarano served as Vice President and Senior Analyst in the Alternative Investments Research group at U.S. Bank where he was responsible for researching hedge funds, private equity funds, funds of funds and liquid alternatives for the Private Client Reserve—the Bank’s high-net-worth wealth management business. Prior to this, Mr. Cascarano spent six years with Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, an institutional consulting firm in Minneapolis as a Senior Analyst on the Hedge Fund Research Team. In this role, he performed due diligence on hedge funds across investment strategies and aided in the construction of hedge fund portfolios. Additionally, Cascarano served as an Investment Analyst at the Firm.

Mr. Cascarano began his career at RBC in 2005 as a Senior Associate on the Investment Client Services Team involved in trade reconciliation and performance reporting. He has over a decade of financial services experience.

Mr. Cascarano received his undergraduate degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and holds a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.
